Everything is connected and connection is everything.

Hello Followers,

Are you ready to begin this Thursday?

And are you ready to connect with others?

Just remember, connecting with other people promotes positive mental health, physical health and gives life meaning.

New research into human connection suggests that emotional conversations, support, positive vibes, and affirmations can all help to enhance our mental health.

Paying attention to the small moments of connection in our daily lives yields benefits both personally and interpersonally.

So, as we have been exploring words and how it effects our health, I welcome you to check out the past two weeks posts with words such as, time, faith, self-worth, happiness, encouragement, self-talk, optimism, karma, forgiveness, trust, appreciation, thoughts and words, power, rebuilding, passion, confidence and how they are related to our health.

Today the word is connection.

Feeling well connected to others contributes to mental health, meaning in life, and even physical well-being.

When loneliness or isolation becomes chronic, human brains and bodies suffer, straining a person’s long-term well-being at least as significantly as major health risks such as obesity and air pollution.

Researchers know what kinds of behavior enhance feelings of social connection.

There are ways to connect!

For many people, the first thing that comes to mind when asked about meaningful connections are heart-to-heart conversations.

These are key moments of emotional intimacy.

One person opens about something personal, often emotional, and vulnerable, and in return another person communicates understanding, acceptance, and care what researchers call responsiveness.

A keyway that people bond is by giving and receiving support.

There are two kinds of social support that often figure in moments of connection.

Instrumental support is tangibly helping with the practicalities of a solution.

For example, if you bring me groceries when I am ill, we will bond through instrumental support.

Emotional support is nurturing another’s feelings.

If you dropped by to give me a hug when I am stressed out, this would be emotional support.

Either way, your actions are responsive: You understand my situation and by acting you show that you care.

Vulnerability and support are no joke, but meaningful interactions need not be somber.

Research shows that people gain a sense of connection by experiencing positive emotions together.

This sense of connection is not only in your mind.

When two people share this kind of good vibe, their bodies coordinate too.

They synchronize with simultaneous gestures and facial expressions, and even biomarkers such as heart rate and hormones shifting in similar patterns.

Human beings rely on these positive, synchronous moments as a basic connecting force beginning in infancy, and people continue to seek out synchronous interactions throughout life.

Think of enjoyable activities like singing and dancing together, they are embodied forms of connection that release endorphins that help you feel bonded.

Same goes for laughing together, which comes with the bonus that a shared sense of humor suggests a similar sense of reality, which enhances connection.

Those moments when you let people know how much you appreciate, like or love them can be brief but powerful.

Expressing and receiving affection and gratitude are especially well-researched means of bonding.

Outright manifestations of affection can come in the form of direct verbal declarations, like saying I love you, or physical expressions, like holding hands.

So, are you ready to connect with the world?

As Dan and I start a new year; we will be posting daily 365 morning meditations for joyful days all year long.

The book is SUNRISE GRATITUDE by Emily Silva.

APRIL 13th

BEGINNINGS CREATE A FRESH perspective and a sense of excitement.

Think about what it would feel like if you entered each day with enthusiasm and newness.

By putting your attention on the day ahead, possibilities can feel endless.

When we take our thoughts away from yesterday and enter each day with a fresh start, we allow life to surprise and delight us.

Challenge yourself to find something new each day.

Turn your awareness to the present moment and begin again.

PHRASE TO REMEMBER; Health is Wealth.

We stand by this and continue to do daily; walk, meditation, Tai Chi, and Qigong.

Dan and I have started back bouncing and walking to Walk at Home YouTube.

It is always important to change your routine around you but continue keeping a healthy lifestyle.

For us, that may be walking through a park, walking in a mall, or going to the gym and just staying home, bouncing, and walking to Walk at Home with YouTube.

This also includes daily meditation and twice a week Tai Chi.
