RISE AND SHINE

Good morning, Today is Sunday and most of us are off today enjoying their day off.  When I was growing up this day was the day of rest.  We would as a family go to church and then come home for brunch.  Those days formed me to who I am today.  This brings me to March 8th, INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.

This day is not only celebrating the women in your life (mother, daughter, wife, cousin, aunt, sister, partner), but it’s a day of the year that we lose an hour.  Although we lose an hour, we also have a longer evening.  So, lets be thankful for enjoying an extra hour of light this evening. Going back to my church days as a child, Dan and I have been reading each day: YOUR BEST LIFE BEGINS EACH MORNING.  This has inspired me to take a better look at our blessings and to be thankful for each other.

The message today March 8th is:

Do you know who you are? You are the apple of Gods eye.  Just as the pupil is in the center of your eye, you are the center of Gods attention.  You didn't choose God.   And the Scriptures teach that God has already approved and accepted you.  He may not be pleased with every decision you have made, but understand the extremely important truth; God is pleased with you. If God approves you, why don't you accept and approve yourself?  The Scripture does not say than God approves you as long as you don't make any mistakes, as long as you don't have any weaknesses.  No, God approves you unconditionally.   He accepts you and loves you in spite of your faults. RISE AND SHINE

Describe something that is bothering you and how the blessings in your life make that trouble easier to bear. To end, I like to go back to some of the articles from my book or even what I had written on the blog, in 2017, I wrote this piece.  Read and then go out and hug a tree. FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2017 ADVISE FROM A TREE ~~FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE A series of writings from me; Sheryl Malin, a passionate person sharing her experience with Functional Medicine.  Not just the symptom, but the cause – root of a disease. ADVISE FROM A TREE FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE How valuable is your health worth?  When we get sick, we go to the doctor to get fixed up.  They ask you how you feel and go by your symptoms.  They take tests on you to rule out any issues you may have to find the disease and then treat it with a pill.  But do they find out the cause, the root of why you have been feeling the way you do and why the disease is there.  No, not normally! For six years, I have been studying on how I might have ended up with breast cancer and why I chose Functional Medicine.  The reasons for my beginning the program which lead me to my journey I am sharing with you. To explain all of this, I have taken the advice from one of the oldest types of trees, the bristle cone pines.  First, we have to understand the growth and why they can live to be over 5000 years old. We need to use our imagination and explore the branches of this pine tree as the diseases that are diagnosed daily.  Each one is treated by our conventional doctors as symptoms and are given medication for treatment.  Isn’t this like putting a band aid on a cut?  Now, what would you think the oldest pine tree would do?  Well, it would talk to its roots and ask what it was lacking. The branches would ask the tree, is it due to the environment (climate, chemicals, water, lack of sunshine, the soil?

All of these situations have something to do with why the pine isn’t growing and is getting sick. This is much like us, the cause of why we get diseases are much like the pine tree. In order for us to correct the problem we must go deeper into the root, the why. This is Functional Medicine. Many diseases begin in the gut because of our food. The other reasons which cause our illnesses are the environment (pollution), the food( chemicals, GMO’s processing), water we drink, stress, lack of exercise, and our DNA.

In later writings, I will explain all of the above and how we can change our health by changing our lifestyle.  Also, how we can alter our DNA to making it be healthy. Take it from the bristle cone pine the oldest tree in the world, stand tall and proud. Go out on a limb. Remember your roots. Drink plenty of water.  Be content with your natural beauty and enjoy the view. Remember there are no mistakes – just lessons. Trust and love yourself and know that anything is possible. Coming up – OUR ENVIRONMENT.  I was taught by a wise doctor in Mexico that stated to me, “you may not be able to change the environment outside your home, but you can change it within your home”.

The last advice from a tree is, enjoy the view.  Yesterday as Dan I were walking to the store, we saw the beginning of a new season for the tree's (spring was in the air) UNTIL tomorrow, be safe.
