CONTINUING THIS WEEK ON; SELF- WORTH AND ON LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE. ALONG WITH HOW SAFE IS MEXICO?

Hello Followers,

Goodbye October!

Last month most of you have carved pumpkins, planted fall flowers, and pulled out your cozy sweaters.

This week you’ll polish off the Halloween candy.

Then, you’ll get to take a deep breath of crisp air and settle into November.

Say hi to November!

This is the very best month of autumn.

It's a holiday month, but instead of the hurried rush, not to mention shopping for all those presents of Christmas; you get to spend time with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving traditions and take a moment to reflect on all that makes you grateful.

Enjoy this month to the fullest!

Go outside and enjoy the perfect temperatures of November, because all too soon snow and frost will come.

Take a trip to an apple orchard, corn maze, or a local fall festival.

Maybe pack a fall soup in a thermos and turn your outing into a picnic.

That is exactly what Dan and I are going to do today.

We are going to go up into the Blue Ridge Mountains and sight see, checking out the beauty of the changing of the leaves.

And you know me, plenty of pictures to follow.

It wouldn’t be long for some; where you start perfecting your Thanksgiving side dishes.

Every year, I come up with something different.

Stay tuned to the Thanksgiving post, where it will be announced.

Enjoy this month, for there are endless ways to celebrate the peak of fall.

November is the second last month of the year, it marks the autumn seasons’ end and welcomes winter with open arms.

So, the holidays begin!

QUOTES ABOUT LIVING

SELF-WORTH

The more you see your own worth, the less you care about the opinions of people who don’t value you much, the more you are able to appreciate those who do.

They’re called second chances, not 342nd changes.

Never giving up on someone else usually means giving up on yourself somewhere along the way.

Don’t live on the whims or indecision of someone you really care about.

At a certain point, it’s time to move on.

How many are you out there are left-handers?

I raise my left hand! When I was growing up, I learned everything right-handed; which made everything I did the wrong way.

WHY ARE THINGS SO TOUGH ON LEFT-HANDERS?

Are Left Handers Less Healthy Than Right Handers?

Left handers and alcohol consumption, a 2011 study published in The British Journal of Health Psychology indicated that left handers reported consuming more alcohol than right handers.

This study of 27,000 self-reporting participants discovered that left-handed people tended to drink more often than right-handed people.

However, in fine-tuning the data, the study concluded that left handers were not more likely to binge drink or become alcoholics.

The numbers did not indicate a reason to believe that it is associated with excessive alcohol consumption or risky drinking.

More than just direct health risks, it appears that left handers have other disadvantages when compared to right handers.

Some of these disadvantages can, in some cases, be related to future healthcare issues and access.

According to a 2009 study published in Demography, left hand dominant children are liable not to perform as well academically as their right-handed peers.

In skills such as reading, writing, vocabulary, and social development, left handers scored lower.

The numbers did not substantially change when using the study controlled for variables, such as parental involvement and socioeconomic status.

A 2014 Harvard study published in the Journal of Economic Perspectives suggested that left handers in comparison to right handers; have more learning disabilities (such as dyslexia), have more behavior and emotional problems, complete less schooling, work in jobs that require less cognitive skill, and have 10 to 12 percent lower annual earnings.

So far very interesting, from a lefty.

CONTINUING THE SERIES ON HOW SAFE IS MEXICO?

THROUGH PICTURES

Dan and I grabbed an opportunity nine years ago, when we took on the adventure and moved to Mexico. Back then, we didn’t know what to expect, except that both of us were alive and ready for a change. We had been going to Tijuana for cancer treatments and knew somewhat what we were heading into. We ended up living in the center of the country however; better for travel purposes and it was nothing like what we had thought about. To this date, we are back in the states living in Virginia and what we took from Mexico was friendships, culture and understanding of their ways of life.

WITH PICTURES

Through thousands of pictures that I took, Dan and I are showing how safe Mexico is. There is a saying ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’; this is so true! A picture tells a story just as well as, if not better than, a lot of written words.

20 PICTURES - ENJOY THE SLIDE SHOW

"Chinese proverb. One picture is worth ten thousand words."

So, we will be posting a gallery of pictures on each post, hopefully you will see each one has a story.

Today will continue the series on LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE, by Elizabeth B. Brown. Dan and I continue to share ways to benefit and help keep one’s health cells healthy. A wise man told me ten years ago, when one is in balance with themselves; one stays healthy.

CHAPTER 8; HANDLING FRAZZLED EMOTIONS.

Today continuing, self-control wins-

Don’t let your emotions put you in prison.

That’s not winning.

LIFELINES

ü Progress flows from working with your emotions, as opposed to for your emotions.

ü It’s not wrong to have negative emotions; its wrong to wallow and say stuck in them.

ü Know your boundaries and set your limits.

TOMORROW, CHAPTER 9 – LET THE PAST GO

When you can’t change the direction of the wind, adjust your sails

This is the time to get ready for food and remedies that heal; alchemy of herbs. In the coming week, Dan and I will be blogging the benefits of NETTLE. It’s amazing what and how nettle can help keep your body healthy?

Its time to share the recipe - NETTLE LEAF DUKKAH.

This is a traditional Egyptian blend of nuts, seeds and spices.

Adding to the mix nettle and parsley, then combine this with olive oil until it forms a slightly runny paste.

This is used with spreads on breads, meats, eggs, and veggies.

Ingredients:

1 cup raw hazelnuts

3 tablespoons sesame seeds

1/3 cup whole coriander seeds

3 tablespoons whole cumin seeds

½ cup dried nettle leaf

¼ cup dried parsley leaves

1 teaspoon fine sea salt

¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions:

1. In a shallow pan on low heat, dry toast the hazelnuts until they are fragrant and the skins start to fall off – approximately 10 minutes.

2. Stir frequently to prevent burning.

3. Put aside.

4. Dry toast the sesame seeds on low heat until they turn golden and are fragrant – approximately 5 minutes.

5. Stir frequently to prevent burning.

6. Set aside with the hazelnuts.

7. Dry toast the coriander and cumin seeds until fragrant – 2 to 3 minutes.

8. Set aside with the hazelnuts and sesame seeds, and allow the mixture to cool completely.

9. In a food processor, combine all ingredients.

10. Pulse until the mixture is ground quite finely, but before it turns into butter.

NOTE AND REPEAT – PHRASE TO REMEMBER; Health is Wealth

THIS IS AN ENCLOSURE – will be at the end of all the blogs, for I stress; this daily routine will heal and keep your body cells happy.

As I end this blog, Dan and I for several years have shared our experiences with enjoying life while managing cancer. By keeping healthy, our routine daily has been walking (exercise), meditation (for stress), Qigong (exercise and for stress).

I know some will say they do not have enough time with work, kids and household chores!!!

Dan and I have put together videos from WALK AT HOME together on our website, that you can follow in home; when you have short periods of time and unable to go out. They are from 15 mins up to 30 mins depending on the miles. This is one of the first steps to making your cells happy!!

Yesterdays Halloween walk was near and in our favorite neighborhood mall.

WHO YOU ARE?

Are you what others say and think you are? Or are you who you are regardless of what others say and think?

Until Tuesday, style comes from knowing who you are and who you want to be in the world; it does not come from wanting to be somebody else, or wanting to be thinner, shorter, taller, or prettier.

DAN AND I WISH YOU AN AMAZING MONDAY
