Life is a collection of moments like this.

Continuing the SERIES ON BELIEVING

Hello Followers,

Well, its Wednesday! Dan and I played hooky yesterday and took off to the town Appomattox.

Not realizing what we may find; a number of events and activities to do with the Civil War. Like one of the quotes from Ulysses S. Grant, I rise only to say that I do not intend to say anything. I thank you for your hearty welcomes and good cheers.

We decided after visiting the welcome center that we will be coming back to this town several more times for there are so much to see from museums, battle fields, gift shops and more.

Another quote that struck a core, imagine being Ulysses S. Grant during 1800’s; "I leave comparisons to history, claiming only that I have acted in every instance from a conscientious desire to do what was right, constitutional, within the law, and for the very best interests of the whole people. Failures have been errors of judgment, not of intent."

If you know me, I love to take lots of pictures to look back at the memories later, this way I wouldn’t forget. Enjoy the collection from Appomattox Court House Village. This is where the surrender site was and the treaty was signed. ENJOY THE PICTURES (slideshow of pictures).

WHAT IS SUCCESS?

Success is in the way you walk the paths of life each day. Its in the little things you do and in the things you say. Success is in the glad hello you give your fellow man. Its in the laughter of your home and all the joys you plan.

Success is not in getting rich or rising high to fame. Its not alone in winning goals which all men hope to claim. Its in the man you are each day, through happiness or care. Its in the cheery words you speak and in the smile you wear.

Success is being big of heart and clean, broad of mind. Its being faithful to your friends and to the stranger- kind. Its in the children whom you love and all they learn from you.

Success depends on character and everything you do. By Edgar A Guest

Forest of Freedom - A Guided Meditation

Imagination and sound are very powerful tools. In this insightful talk and gentle meditation with Tony Samara, we can visualize letting go and journeying into a beautiful forest, where we find the energy to resonate with love and joy in our heart.

FIND YOUR WEAKNESS

It’s natural to shy away from what you see as your weakness. Often an over-reliance on other people or social media is used to mask these. But when you’re spending time on your own, these weaknesses can rise to the surface. Instead of trying to ignore them, embrace them and really examine them. After all, once you understand what they are and where they come from you are halfway towards trying to fix them.

SIMPLE JOYS

Sometimes returning to our childhood can be just the tonic for all our grown-up worries and anxieties. Sit on a swing and kick your legs high. The rhythmic up and down as you fly through the air will transport you back to a time of worry-free existence and your endorphins will soon be pumping through your body. You’ll find trampolines have the same effect.

As I continue to be re-reading my book that I wrote four years ago; it’s a personal journey of my everyday experience with treatments that I received in Mexico. In relations to the current series of BELIEVING, entry from 12-9-10; THOUGHTS WERE COMING TO ME.

Three biopsies were scheduled for two masses plus the mass on my lymph nodes. They prepped me with this brown-looking stuff and he gave me a local. It was similar to what a dentist gives.

For the first biopsy, he inserted a tube and this long instrument with prongs on the ends. I could see it on the screen and all of a sudden, a staple noise. He got a specimen, which didn’t appear like enough, and he would return back to acquire one more. While doing this, we started talking along with the others. The tech asked me what I did for a living and I replied, “I make greeting cards.

I always wanted to do something artistically and now I create artistic cards.” Someone in the room spoke out, saying that it is just a piece of paper. As compassionate as I am about art and cards, I explained to them that a card is art, and has shapes and colors with words that have meaning.

Close your eyes and imagine somewhere special and describe it with words.

RESPECTFUL

"Cooking is like writing poetry, be careful in the choice of your ingredients and respectful of how they work together. That’s true of all the efforts in life."

I asked if any of them had talents they would like to express. The nurse sang in a band and wrote songs. The tech also sang, but said only in the bathroom. The radiologist wanted to go back to school to become a physician. He was joking around! At that point everyone spoke up. The nurse would like to go to Fuji with her husband on her 25th anniversary. I mentioned my trip to Hawaii on my anniversary. I related that I took over one thousand pictures, taking shots one after another and never seeing the beauty in the moment. She replied she didn’t take many photos, for she loved seeing it as it happened. I said, “Well when I get old and have memory loss, I can see them and will not forget.” They all laughed and continued to go ahead with the procedure.

How many of you did your walk yesterday, or did you play hooky? Dan and I went to Appomattox Court House village 🏘️ where the Civil War battles took place, and where the treaty was signed.

It was also a great place to do some walking through the green fields, a little over 2 miles.

So, for today if you are unable to go out, here is a video; WALK AT HOME.

Our bodies are meant to MOVE! Give yourself a healthy gift by walking 1 mile!

Always take the scenic route.

This is the time to get ready for food and remedies that heal; alchemy of herbs. Are you ready for the recipe of ROASTED ROOT VEGETABLES WITH FENNEL?

This simple recipe is one that I tried last year. Dan and I purchase locally grown vegetables from a co-op that we joined, such as root vegetables, carrots and beets. We love this dish drizzled with balsamic vinegar. You can peel the carrots and beets if you like, but I didn’t. the garlic roasts up tender and sweet within its skin; simply remember to remove the skin before eating.

Ingredients:

4 cups cubed beets

4 cups cut carrots

1 bulb garlic split into cloves; skin on

1 teaspoon fennel seeds

¼ teaspoon pepper

½ teaspoon salt

¼ Cup olive oil

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Instructions:

1 Preheat the oven to 350f.

2 Combine all the ingredients except for the balsamic vinegar.

3 Add in a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

4 Stir well.

5 Place the pan in the oven and bake for 60 minutes, or until the beets and carrots are tender.

6 Stir the vegetables every 20 minutes.

7 Remove the vegetables from the oven and drizzle with balsamic vinegar.

8 Serve warm.

Until Thursday, something to think about; everyone's grass is greener. If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.
