CORONA VIRUS AND PLASTIC POLLUTION

Hello Thursday,

Dan and I were discussing the other day, where has August gone. It seems like it just flew on by. Wait, wasn’t it just March? I do not know about you, but I think the corona virus just hijacked us for most of this year.

Time can be an ally or an enemy. What it becomes depends entirely upon you, your goals, and your determination to use every available minute. A person can have many dreams and aspirations in life. In order to fulfill all or at least some of these dreams, one needs to be determined and focused. It is not always a bed of roses laid down before you. One has to tread the path that is least taken and carve out a way for oneself. In such difficult times, such as this; determination can help you stay focused to your goals. This turns your dreams into reality.

At this point, Dan and myself goal is to purchase a car by the end of this year. We are determined to see the historical sites throughout the state while we are living in Virginia and drive through the Blue Ridge Parkway.

This week, I have focused on the CORONA VIRUS AND PLASTIC POLLUTION. This is affecting us now and will for the future! We don’t realize that it is part of the plastic pollution that is already destroying our universe.

Pollution awareness is the key and knowing the facts is the first step to resolve this land and water pollution.

The most important way to prevent this situation from getting worse is by raising awareness. Sadly, the number of masks and gloves we are using is likely to continue to rise, especially as conditions begin worsening as reopening continues.

Dan and I are trying to make a difference. If you want to ensure you are not part of the problem, purchase reusable masks. These will not only help you save money, but are quite stylish. Our daughter, Danielle made and also purchased some for us.

Many of the gloves and masks worn by people trying to prevent the spread of corona virus seem to be finding their way onto sidewalks and in gutters, and the trash. As Dan and I walk along our streets, we have been noticing the increase in medical litter; thinking people are being selfish.

I'm assuming people don't want to bring them into their house to throw them away because they're probably contaminated. I'm wondering why they think it's OK to put them on the ground? Or is it that they are lazy to put them in the trash.

Someone's eventually going to have to pick them up.

Benoit Barbeau, a virologist in the department of biological sciences at 'Université du Québec à Montréal, said most of the gloves and masks scattered in the street are a nuisance, but they're not likely a major health risk.

The most highly contaminated equipment is what's being used by health-care workers in hospitals.

Barbeau said none of that would end up as litter because it's all carefully decontaminated and discarded. The rubbish in the streets, he said, was likely tossed away after being used as a prevention tool.

"This material is most likely not extremely dangerous, but I would consider it as potentially contaminated," Barbeau said. He said the only potential risk would be if you touch the discarded gear.

He said even if a mask or glove is contaminated, depending on how long it's been outside, the virus might have already died off.

PREPARATION 🌼

Good morning 🌄 Thursday. Where is the week going, almost the weekend 🌻 This mini video was inspired by my daughter 🌼 Danielle🎍 confidence is preparation. Everything else is beyond your control ❤️

"The virus won't leave the surface and jump on your face, but if you start handling it with your hands," he said, there could be a low risk of contamination.

In any case, he said, clean-up crews picking up that kind of litter are safe as long as they wear gloves, remove their gloves afterwards, and follow up by washing their hands.

Dan and I are asking our readers to be more respectful, and throw out their waste properly.
