IT’S A SMALL WORD AFTER ALL
Hello all,
Its Dan and my 48th day safe at home.
Yesterday we walked down to the mail box ( near the mall) about a little under a mile to mail cards out. Along the way flowers were blooming with bright colors, took some pictures of nature at its best.
Dan figured that the average steps taken for every mile is 2,000.00 steps. So, he figured out that walking three miles a day our steps average 6,000.00. This means on average per week we are stepping 42,000.00. Wow, no wonder we are losing some weight.
I would like to thank Maureen in Mexico for the Zoom yoga class last night and wish her a Happy Birthday. It’s truly a small world after all, being able to be in Maureen’s back yard on zoom and take the yoga class in our own home.
And so it is. We watched this movie last night that was made 2011 called Contagion. On YouTube or can be rented it's what is happening right now to the tea. Scary
When Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) returns to Minneapolis from business in Hong Kong, what she thought was jet lag takes a virulent turn. Two days later, she's dead in the ER and the doctors tell her shocked and grieving husband (Matt Damon) they have no idea why. Soon more cases are reported as the virus begins to spread. Researchers mobilize to break the code of this unique biological pathogen as it continues to mutate. Deputy Director Cheever (Laurence Fishburne) tries to allay the growing panic despite his own personal concerns, and must send a brave young doctor (Kate Winslet) into harm's way. As the death toll escalates and people struggle to protect themselves and their loved ones in a society breaking down, one activist blogger (Jude Law) claims the public isn't getting the truth about what's really going on, and sets off an epidemic of paranoia and fear as infectious as the virus itself. The phrase ‘It’s a Small World’ is used when you have encountered the same people, events, or situations in an unexpected place or you have discovered that someone knows a person you also know. Have you ever met a person on a trip that lives in your home town?
When I was a little kid, as a family we went to Disney Land. One of the rides I loved was IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL. I could have gone on this ride all day. Back then you could go on that ride several times, there was no tickets needed for that ride. When our daughter was little, that was my best ride to take her on.
Dan went to Europe in his early days and backpacked around, after being out of high school a couple of years. While he was walking down a street in Amsterdam, Holland he suddenly saw someone who looked very familiar to him while they were walking the opposite direction. He almost let it go for he thought who would he know here 5000 miles from his home town. However; he said curiosity swelled up in his mind so he stopped and yelled out the name whom he thought it was and suddenly he stopped and turned around and saw Dan and said D A N!! Shocking as it was to both they walked towards each other said WOW I can’t believe it . They ended up spending time together that day for a while until he had to leave. Turns out it was a classmate from high school whom he had not heard of or seen since, who was now in the Navy and was on shore leave there for the afternoon, crazy!! So again, I had the pleasure of meeting him many years later recently at his school reunion and now is a Facebook friend, again it is a Small World After All.
The phrase 'It’s a small world' is an ancient one with no known origin. It has been used for hundreds of years in Spanish-speaking countries, where it’s said 'El mundo es un panuelo.'
Dan and my journey lead us to live in Mexico six ½ years, in which this time we met people from all over the world. Made friends from London, Canada, Europe and from all over the United States. The opportunity was one of a lifetime and the friendships that we hold are within our hearts. Some people we got connected with were from Florida where I grew up and lived 52 years. I met Dan there, which he lived for 33 years.
Then moving to Virginia, we have met a couple of people that lived in Florida in the area where I grew up. Our paths have met for a purpose and our directions at that time were meant to be.
Earth's polar radius is 3,950 miles (6,356 km) — a difference of 13 miles (22 km).
Using those measurements, the equatorial circumference of Earth is about 24,901 miles (40,075 km). However, from pole-to-pole — the meridional circumference — Earth is only 24,860 miles (40,008 km) around. This shape, caused by the flattening at the poles, is called an oblate spheroid.
In demographics, the world population is the total number of humans currently living, and was estimated to have reached 7.8 billion people as of March 2020. It took over 200,000 years of human history for the world's population to reach 1 billion, and only 200 years more to reach 7 billion.
And still, we are directed into meeting people that you might have crossed paths sometime in your lifetime.
[Verse 1]
It's a world of laughter, a world of tears
It's a world of hopes and a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all
[Chorus]
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world
[Verse 2]
There is just one moon and one golden sun
And a smile means friendship to everyone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all
[Chorus]
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world
The directing of a picture involves coming out of your individual loneliness and taking a controlling part in putting together a small world. John Huston
It's a small world. It keeps recrossing itself. David Mitchell
I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples. Mother Teresa
If we are to prosper together in our increasingly small world, we must listen to -- and learn from each other's stories. Queen Noor of Jordan
We live in a small world. Not a leaf falls that doesn't affect a myriad of things. When we reach out to someone in love and the effect is made - everyone, everything which comes in contact with the person we've effected is better for it. Of course, the converse is true, too. Leo Buscaglia
I haven't forgotten that I am just one person,
That I am but one voice attempting to stand out from the crowd.
I know that I can't sit here and expect my words to create change without reason.
I can see if I don't educate and try to make a change, then I can't expect anyone to follow my world.
I can feel that time is slipping by me, that it will be gone if I just stand still.
I have heard that there are a million other voices that sound like mine, that want also to be heard.
I've been told that it's not enough to wish for dreams that I have to work them into reality.
Your voice, your opinion-- mean something.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!
You are one drop, but together we can make an ocean.
