Most of you know Dan and I have a pet turtle his name is Heckle.

While we lived in Mexico, one day we decided to go to the local pet shop and there we saw this little turtle that had climbed up to the top of several other turtles.

The moment I saw him; I remembered the same exact turtle I had when I was little.

Dan also mentioned he had one too.

So, with Heckle came a bowl and some food.

The store owner stated that he will only live about 5 months.

If you knew me, that would not happen!

In researching red-eared sliders, the bowl that the pet store sold us was called the death bowl.

Heckle much like Dan and I need a safe environment!

We went back to the pet store and bought a ten-gallon aquarium with a pump and all.

Set it up and away we go.

Fast forward to now, Heckle has been part of our lives for ten years and looking strong.

Dan and I have since bought a bigger tank and pump and even have a play area for him during the day.

The moral of this story is, we can all learn by, yes, a turtle.

Longevity

Turtles are often seen as symbols of long life due to their extended lifespans.

Wisdom and Patience

They are associated with wisdom and the virtue of patience, often reflecting a grounded nature.

Endurance and Resilience

Turtles symbolize the ability to endure challenges and persist over time.

Protection and Loyalty

They are also seen as symbols of protection and loyalty, often representing a safe retreat.

Healing and Calmness

Turtles embody healing qualities and a sense of calmness in various cultures.

And yes, Heckle continues to teach us about living.
