No matter how fast a clock may run, it always winds up at the same place.
THIS WEEK BLOG IS ON THE SERIES, DON’T LET YOUR ALARM CLOCK, BE THE ONLY REASON YOU WAKE UP AND ON LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE. PLUS, FINISHING THE HERBS – ASTRAGALUS AND STARTING THE BOOK TEN-MINUTE RELAXATION FOR MIND AND BODY.
Hello Followers,
It’s the week-end!
What are you up to?
For many years, I dreamed of walking through a field of sunflowers.
I know that they existed, but never know that there was one in my back yard, not far from where we live.
13 PICTURES OF SINKLAND FARMS SUNFLOWER FIELD, ENJOY THE SLIDE SHOW.
So, yesterday we went to Sinkland Farms, not only was there a sunflower field, but animals and live entertainment.
11 PICTURES OF SINKLAND FARMS ANIMALS,
ENJOY THE SLIDE SHOW.
It so happens that Dan Marshall was the live entertainment.
He graduated from Virginia Tech, not far from Sinkland Farms.
And is a singer and songwriter, he was a popular contestant in the 20th season of American Idol; ranked 11th.
Dan spoke to his father, which stated that he is living in Tennessee and is writing his own music; soon to have an album out.
Life is full of surprises.
Those who desire to live a fulfilling life need to have a curious and hungry mind.
By being a lifelong learner, you realize that there’s a vast world out there that is waiting for exploration and adventures.
By constantly learning, you’re increasing your knowledge and perspective of the world.
If you think about it, the brain, while mostly grey matter has muscle.
Like any muscle or skill, the less you use it the more chance for it to atrophy.
But keeping your brain strong is not the only benefit.
In the article Benefits of Lifelong Learning, Marjaan Laal states that lifelong learning sharpens the mind, increases confidence, enhances interpersonal skills, expands career opportunities and impacts the ability to effectively communicate.
How is that so?
When we learn, we expand our knowledge base obviously, but it goes much farther than that.
Learning can help us to step out of a pattern or routine.
The more we do that, the more confidence we create.
It moves us past that point of complacency.
It in turn enhances and improves the skills we already have by helping us to not only strengthen them, but also add to them.
It is also beneficial to our health.
While it may not cure diseases like Alzheimer’s, for example, it has been reported that learning can slow the progression of diseases that impact the brain.
John Coleman stated in his article Lifelong Learning is Good for Your Health, Your Wallet and Your Social Life that even reading for a short period everyday can reduce stress levels.
With all the demands we face on a daily basis, who does not want a little stress relief?
So, see learning can be fun!
JULY – 23rd, Dan and I thought on continuing this segment with the series with some fun; What is it about July that’s so significant during this month?
National Sprout Day – July 23, 2022
This holiday appreciates Brussels sprouts, spreads awareness about the vegetables’ nutrient content, and aims to encourage more people to eat them.
The Brussels sprouts we are familiar with today were developed from cabbage.
This was done between the 13th and 16th centuries in Belgium.
Brussels sprouts were very popular in Europe throughout the 14th to 16th centuries.
However, their production didn’t begin in the U.S. until the 18th century, when French settlers brought them to Louisiana.
Over the next few decades, the vegetable spread throughout the U.S., and plantations in California began in the 1920s, reaching peak production during the 1940s.
Thousands of acres of land are now planted with Brussels sprouts in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Mateo in California.
Most Brussels sprout plantation occurs in California; however, a smaller percentage of the crop grows on Long Island, New York, and Skagit Valley, Washington.
The U.S. produces more than 30,000 tons of Brussels sprouts per year.
Brussels sprouts are packed with vitamins, nutrients, and minerals.
They contain vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B9, K, and C.
The small-cabbage vegetable also serves as a source of copper, potassium, manganese, fiber, choline, phosphorus, and omega-3 fatty acids, making it very healthy.
The sprouts grow in many rows on a single stalk.
They are usually about a half to one and a half inches in diameter.
However, even though Brussels sprouts are a highly nutritious vegetable, about half of the people who try them do not like them.
A study from Cornwall College explains that a chemical in Brussels sprouts makes them taste bitter to people with a specific gene.
So, you see learning can be fun!
Time is precious and is priceless, so Dan and I will continue each day to pull from a box of 365 inspirational quotes; one quote and share with you.
Today is:
LIFE IS A GIFT. TREASURE WHAT YOU DO HAVE. THERE ARE SOME THAT WOULD BE BLESSED TO EVEN HAVE SOME OF WHAT YOU HAVE AND COMPLAIN BITTERLY ABOUT.
Continuing from last year the series on LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE, by Elizabeth B. Brown.
Dan and I continue to share ways to benefit and help keep one’s health cells healthy.
A wise man told me ten years ago, when one is in balance with themselves; one stays healthy.

CHAPTER 18; SEE THE POSSIBILITIES-
Faith sees the impossible and finds hope in the hopeless.
Strong faith can be a stabilizing force in the midst of chaotic, difficult relationships.
But faith that is out of balance or in the wrong thing can acerbate the chaos.
Having faith that you are here for a purpose, that your mistakes are not fatal.
And that difficulties as well as successes provide learning opportunities helps you make the necessary choices for self-control when dealing with off-the-wall people.
Healthy faith encourages self-respect as it stabilizes priorities on a solid foundation.
With faith, your choices are rooted in a long-term vision; which allows you to be flexible so that you can withstand the short-term storms.
Healthy faith helps you find solutions and peace, even as you cope with difficult people.

Today Dan and I will be continuing on the book; ten-minute relaxation, For mind and body by Jennie Harding.
Whenever you are feeling under pressure, ten minutes is all you need to relax totally, using tools that are with you at all times; your senses.
This book is packed full of wonderfully simple ideas and exercises for using sight, taste, smell, hearing, and touch and that vital sixth sense of intuition to rebalance your energies and bring you back into harmony with the natural world around you.
Identify your favorite sensory relaxation solutions and combat that stress!
Per Dan and my experience this is another component in keeping ourselves healthy; meditation.
By using your five senses, you can learn to relax in just ten minutes.
USING YOUR SENSES
Your senses; sight, touch, hearing, smell and taste, enables you to interact with your environment.
Even as a tiny baby you are already reacting constantly to the world that is in contact with you.
The smell of your mother’s skin, the feel of objects, the sound of music, the taste of food, the sight of someone’s face.
You learn to distinguish between sounds that soothe you and sounds that make you feel uneasy.
Perhaps one day you put a hand on something very hot and discover from the searing pain that this is really unpleasant.
Through your interpretations you begin to shape your world and change your behavior.
Your senses tell you what appeals to you and what does not.
Roses smell astonishingly sweet, look beautiful and feel prickly to touch.
If your senses tell you mostly positive things, you will probably decide you still want these flowers.
Continue tomorrow-
All these things very soon become open to interpretation, you learn to differentiate between smiles and frowns.
The PHRASE TO REMEMBER; Health is Wealth.
We stand by this and continue to do daily; walk, meditation, and Qigong.
If you would like to follow with us; hash tag words #walk, #meditation #Qigong on the right of the main blog page.
