Having a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body.

RECAPPING ON THE SERIES, HOW THOUGHTS AFFECT OUR HEALTH/BODY? AND ON THE SERIES; GRATITUDE AND HOW IT CHANGES OUR BRAIN TO BE HAPPIER. PLUS, THE BOOK TEN-MINUTE RELAXATION FOR MIND AND BODY.

Hello Followers,

Are you ready for a new week?

December is a beloved time of year for so many people.

From the Christmas decorations to the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, most cannot wait to say hello, December!

Does December sing to you?

December brings with it a flourish of holiday fun and winter activities.

It lights up with music, vibrant colors, and time spent together.

There is no denying that December is a magical time of year.

Winter snow creates a magically beautiful wonderland sparkling before your eyes.

Not only that, but Christmas lights ignite your inner cheer.

Say hello to the magic that December brings.

So, let us get ready!

And as we go into the Christmas mood, our mind-body connection is far more powerful.

This leads us to our new series, how thoughts affect our body/health?

Emotions can trigger panic disorder, GI complaints, chest pain, headaches, breathing problems, weakness, and urinary problems.

Hypochondria is marked with symptoms of depression, insomnia, loss of appetite, decreased libido.

In this illness, the person becomes preoccupied with belief that he or she has serious illness despite medical findings are contrary to their beliefs.

Acute grief can also trigger symptoms of hypochondria.

Similarly, chronic pain syndrome sufferers are often truly angry, jobless, and dependent on narcotic pain killer.

They are often abused as children, suffer from loss of libido, decreased appetite and insomnia

Conversion disorder is marked with amnesia, blindness, numbness, seizures, excessive vomiting, inability to swallow and the root of the physiological symptoms is believed to be psychosomatic.

The person needs to understand the association between emotions and physical complaints.

Again, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps reframe the cognitive distortions and thus decrease the intensity of symptoms.

Biofeedback, relaxation therapy, hypnosis, acupuncture is available in pain centers.

In this way, we see that negative thoughts, beliefs and self-talk can have a counter effect on our body, mind, and spirit.

DECEMBER 4th, Dan, and I thought on continuing this segment with the series with some fun; What is it about December that is so significant during this month?

Santa’s List Day – December 4, 2022

Santa’s List Day is on December 4 every year.

In a world of excessive list-making, this is the list that counts!

It is the day when Santa puts together his list of naughty or nice children.

The ones on the nice list receive toys, candy, and other presents on Christmas Eve.

The naughty children may find coal in their stockings or not much at all! But how can one man pull this off?

He has help, of course.

Santa’s trusty elves keep watch all year and make toys for nice children.

Despite the two lists, Santa remains jolly and generous, in keeping with the season’s spirit.

Still, being nice is always a good thing.

The story of Santa’s List Day and how it began has several versions.

Perhaps like the story of the man himself, Santa’s List Day is an amalgamation of numerous histories and folklore traditions.

Santa’s List Day marks the day he makes a list of naughty and nice children, and the proverbial list lets him decide what to bring each child for Christmas.

To understand how Santa’s List Day began, let us delve into the history of the man himself.

The origins of Santa Claus are steeped in folklore. We know him as the jolly man in red who brings presents to children each Christmas; however, his story goes back to numerous Christmas traditions.

Most people believe that Santa Claus was a monk named St Nicholas who lived during the third century.

Over time, St Nicholas became known as the protector of children and sailors.

The story of St Nicholas adapted through the age. By the 18th century, the legend of St Nicholas made inroads into American popular culture when Dutch families gathered to honor the death anniversary of ‘Sinterklaas’ (Dutch for St Nicholas).

Gift-giving and Santa Claus’ role in all of it became a part of Christmas tradition in the 19th century.

Santa Claus was everywhere, from the streets of New York to shopping malls and advertisements.

But the defining moment came with Clement Mark Moore’s poem, “Taws the Night Before Christmas.”

The poem describes a jolly old man flying from house to house, shimmying up and down chimneys with ease to leave presents for deserving children; also known as the ones on his nice list.

RECAPPING ON THE SERIES, HOW THOUGHTS AFFECT OUR HEALTH/BODY? AND ON THE SERIES; GRATITUDE AND HOW IT CHANGES OUR BRAIN TO BE HAPPIER. PLUS, THE BOOK TEN-MINUTE RELAXATION FOR MIND AND BODY.

The real secret to lifelong good health is the opposite: Let your body take care of you.

Embrace and love your body. It is the most amazing thing you will ever own.

Stay active and stay outdoors.

Working out is an investment in your future self.

They who can believe themselves well, will be well.

Health and cheerfulness are brothers.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Time is precious and is priceless, so Dan and I will continue each day to pull from a box of 365 inspirational quotes, one quote and share with you.

Today is:

IF IT IS NOT GOING TO MATTER IN FIVE YEARS, DO NOT SPEND MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES BEING UPSET ABOUT IT.

Today Dan and I will be continuing the book, Ten-Minute Relaxation, For Mind and Body by Jennie Harding.

Whenever you are feeling under pressure, ten minutes is all you need to relax totally, using tools that are always with you; your senses.

This book is packed full of wonderfully simple ideas and exercises for using sight, taste, smell, hearing, and touch and that vital sixth sense of intuition to rebalance your energies and bring you back into harmony with the natural world around you.

Identify your favorite sensory relaxation solutions and combat that stress!

Per Dan and my experience this is another component in keeping ourselves healthy, meditation.

By using your five senses, you can learn to relax in just ten minutes.

CHAPTER 2; THE SENSORY JOURNEY; TOUCH

TOUCH THE ESSENCE OF CARE-

SWITCHING ON THE SENSE

Today, TEN-MINUTE EXERCISE- BLINDFOLD TOUCH GAME

Try this old-fashioned party game with friends.

Simply take turns to be blindfolded for ten-minutes, during which time you are given different objects to hold and touch to see if you can guess what they are.

It is surprising how we rely on sight for identification.

This game can be a lot of fun but be kind to each other and do not use sharp objects!

Vegetables, fruit, bowls of things like dry rice or raisins are good to try.

It may surprise you how inaccurate you are, which shows you how touch is used mostly in conjunction with other senses to give you information.

People who rely on touch, such as those with sight problems, find that it can become incredibly fine-tuned and accurate.

Tomorrow, TEN-MINUTE EXERCISE-HAND FOCUS

The PHRASE TO REMEMBER; Health is Wealth.

We stand by this and continue to do daily; walk, meditation, and Qigong.

If you would like to follow with us; hash tag words #walk, #meditation #Qigong on the right of the main blog page.

BOTH ARE IMPORTANT

Having a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body. #healthymind#important#healthybody#howthoughtsaffecthealth#thoughts#inspirational

Until Monday, love, success, family, and friends all come after my health. No health, no enjoyment.
