To avoid sickness, eat less; to prolong life worry less.

THIS WEEK DAN AND I ARE CONTINUING ON THE SERIES, HOW THOUGHTS AFFECT OUR HEALTH/BODY? PLUS, THE BOOK TEN-MINUTE RELAXATION FOR MIND AND BODY.

Hello Followers,

Happy Tuesday,

Remember, Christmas isn’t a season.

It’s a feeling!

The holiday season evokes warm feelings of good cheer, wonderment, and awe; until the stress of shopping, baking Christmas cookies and decking the halls kick in.

Dan and I are reminding on just how magical the most wonderful time of the year really is.

The wise words of Charles Dickens, Washington Irving, C.S. Lewis, and other famous figures will help put your mind at ease amid the holiday chaos and perhaps, encourage you to focus less on gifts and more on soaking up quality time with the ones you love.

Let us get ready!

And as we go into the Christmas mood, our mind-body connection is far more powerful.

This leads us to our new series, how thoughts affect our body/health?

We see that positive emotions broaden our perspective of the world and facilitate lasting emotional resilience.

We enjoy better sleep, have fewer incidence of colds, and a greater sense of overall happiness.

When we focus on the positive aspects of our lives, show wonder, awe, and gratitude throughout life, we enjoy life better.

It is good to ignore the negative as it leads to so many problems and shift the focus from negative to positive.

DECEMBER 6th, Dan, and I thought on continuing this segment with the series with some fun; What is it about December that is so significant during this month?

St. Nicholas Day – December 6, 2022

St. Nicholas Day on December 6 celebrates of course carries some connection to Christmas and Santa Clause, but there is much more to this holiday and St. Nicholas than that.

Although St. Nicholas partially inspired the Christmas and Santa Clause that we all know and love, St. Nicholas derives from a different kind of tale.

Let’s learn about St. Nicholas and what this day is truly about.

St. Nicholas derived from Nicholas of Myra and was a bishop in 4th century Greece.

He was known for selling off his own items and then giving the money to the poor.

He would commonly leave coins in people’s shoes and dedicated his entire life to serving people who were sick and suffering.

This is how he gained his saint status and is what inspired St. Nicholas Day (also commonly known as Feast Day or the Feast of St. Nicholas).

One well-known story of St. Nicholas involves a dowry for a father’s three daughters.

In the third century, it was common for fathers to offer money to prospective husbands.

However, one poor father with three daughters did not have money to do this.

St. Nicholas paid for all three daughters’ dowries by leaving gold in their shoes.

As time passed St. Nicholas Day began in different ways.

In Italy, this day was celebrated with feasts, gift-giving, and festivals.

In other European countries like Germany and the Netherlands, children would leave their shoes or special St. Nicholas boot in front of the fireplace or front door at night and find presents in them in the morning.

The history of St. Nicholas and his good deeds was part of the inspiration of the modern-day Santa Claus and Father Christmas, which is why there are some current traditions of leaving gifts in people’s boots or shoes (or stockings).

Time is precious and is priceless, so Dan and I will continue each day to pull from a box of 365 inspirational quotes, one quote and share with you.

Today is:

KEEP YOUR MIND OPEN. THE MEANING OF THINGS LIES IN HOW PEOPLE PERCEIVE THEM. THE SAME COULD MEAN DIFFERENT MEANINGS TO THE SAME PEOPLE AT DIFFERENT TIMES.

Today Dan and I will be continuing the book, Ten-Minute Relaxation, For Mind and Body by Jennie Harding.

Whenever you are feeling under pressure, ten minutes is all you need to relax totally, using tools that are always with you; your senses.

This book is packed full of wonderfully simple ideas and exercises for using sight, taste, smell, hearing, and touch and that vital sixth sense of intuition to rebalance your energies and bring you back into harmony with the natural world around you.

Identify your favorite sensory relaxation solutions and combat that stress!

Per Dan and my experience this is another component in keeping ourselves healthy, meditation.

By using your five senses, you can learn to relax in just ten minutes.

CHAPTER 2; THE SENSORY JOURNEY; TOUCH

TOUCH THE ESSENCE OF CARE-

SWITCHING ON THE SENSE

Today starting on SIMPLE FACE MASSAGE-

Massage is a very special form of touch.

It involves using movements in sequence.

Working over the skin surface.

This really stimulates the skin’s touch receptors, as well as warming the area being treated.

Fresh blood supply is brought to the lower skin layers, giving a flush appearance.

And the sense of touch relays pleasurable sensations to the brain.

Deep relaxation and stress relief are the results.

Continue tomorrow-

The PHRASE TO REMEMBER; Health is Wealth.
